Work of a genius - a feast for the ears (8/10) Dieses Album ist eine widmung an die Leute,die Freunde die sich jetzt seit längerer zeit auf Jamendo "rumtreiben" und immer schön fleissig mitschreiben in den foren. Das sind dann auch die Menschen die dafür sorgten dass endlich mal leben in die "Bude" kam und man(n) sich nicht mehr so einsam fühlte wie es ne lange zeit der fall war. Die idee zu diesem Album kam aber erst als mehrmals das thema eines treffen in Deutschland zu sprache kam...und noch immer im gespräch ist! Dauernd schwebten mir Bilder im Kopf wie denn ein solches treffen aussehen würde und während dem ich mein neues "Album" produzierte merkte ich zumindest dass schon der anfang meines stückes diese gedanken noch verstärkten...also war schnell ein titel und eine neue idee geboren. Eigentlich sollten da noch einige titel mehr zu hören sein,aber mir fiel auf dass diese titel nicht hier zu diesem Album passten. Also entschloss ich mich dass dieses Album nur zwei, ein sehr kurzer und ein langer titel haben wird...naja, wenigstens kein 1:22 Album LOL!!! Ich hoffe ihr könnt iergendwie meine gedanken beim zuhören dieser musik verstehen und raushören. Thank's for....everything! The Abogix (J.K.) alias Reznamor alias Jean Kops Abogix is a genius. Or he sold his soul to the devil. How else could you explain the fact that this man composes and records three perfect albums in half a year?

This record is one of his best. It's a great mixture of electronica, rock, jazz, even some traces of industrial. All is perfectly blended and flawlessly produced. It's simply a true feast for the ears. The music is beautiful, intelligent, original, surprising - everything is perfect on this album. I have only two complaints: first of all - IT'S TOO SHORT!!!!! ;-). And secondly, I don't like long tracks. And this one could have been cut very easily, as it comprises of several different tunes. Of course I don't mean putting silence between them - they are perfectly combined and it is great, but each tune could be just put in his own track. It would be easy to find one's favourite part, repeat them, compare different melodies and so on. Oh, and I love the cover - very funny and perfectly corresponds with the mood of this album. But this is also usual with Abogix - covers of his albums are always great. PS. Why on earth I wrote all the above? I could just write: "Just another album from Abogix." and everything would be perfectly clear. ;-)

Great electronic tunes with unnecessary speeches (7/10) Ok...this album i don't like it! But other poeple love it...so i leave it here! I love the melodies on this album. What a pity they are spoiled by mumbling of that moron George of the Jungle. All these speeches are completely unnecessary and spoil all the fun one could have from listening to this album. I understand the reason for that, but it just doesn't appeal to me. If I was keen on GWB or just wanted to listen to talking heads, I would turn the TV on. But I wanted to listen to beautiful music. So my rating is 7, while it could have been 10. Istniejące i powstające nadal kompozycje rażą szablonem, banałem oraz żenującym poziomem artystycznym. [Read more --->] This is a quality compilation of contemporary club music: from electronica and nu jazz through hip hop to disco, all with a nice retro feeling, typical for productions coming from Estrada Nagrania netlabel. The retro feeling is strengthened through masterful mixing, blending modern tunes with sampled fragments of Polish radio programmes from the 1970s - often to very funny and surreal effects. Only several of these tracks suit my personal taste, hence the rating of "7". However, trying to adopt a more objective view, I have to admit all of this material is top class and should satisfy a more club-music-oriented listener. And for people longing for "good old times", ready for a nostalgic time travel back to '70s - this should be a masterpiece. The album has been released by the Estrada Nagrania netlabel and you can download it for free in mp3 format. The lossless version is available in the netlabel's Bandcamp store under the "name your price" scheme. You can also listen to the full album online on Bandcamp. Of course, if you like this album and you intend to keep it, I encourage you to make a donation (purchase) through Bandcamp, even if you need only a free mp3 version. Very good, creative electronica (9/10) This album was composed January 2006 - August 2006. I was on a creative high after finishing up the BlackJaq CD with my collaborator. I really went into this CD with an idea to create a more straightforward electronica sound. I kept some of the ethnic influences and added elements of space music and chanting (listen for Catholic and Ba'hai faith chants). If Leaving Town was a more personal album, then this one is more broad in it's mission. Some aspects are cold, while others seem personal, yet at a distant. The song, Jupiter, was originally composed in October 2005 and was originally written to be a new track on the original BlackJaq Cafe CD. The song, Again, features my BlackJaq collaborator, DJ Jax and this song is actually a special remix created exclusively for this release. The song 2012 was my highest and longest charting song on AcidPlanet. It was also the most reviewed and downloaded song I've ever released on the site. This is the first time this album has been released in its entirety. Thank you for your support of my music. This album is dedicated to my dad. He was the one who inspired the title song. Whether it's intricate electro, smooth breakbeats, fresh hip-hop or relaxed ambient - a personal note always goes hand in hand with the musical ones. The phonetik fellas team up with the long-legged lady to define what a colourful and interesting compilation can be. And what it should be. :)

Very good compilation of independent electronic music. This is the first release of the netlabel iD.EOLOGY and right from the start they set the bar very high. The album is oriented mainly on (but not limited to) drum & bass. Some elements of breakbeat, nu jazz and downtempo can be easily found too, making the record more diverse and interesting. There is only a one flaw - a very unfortunate hip-hop song "Late At Night" by Broke Gringos. Not only it does not fit here stylistically, but what worse it is simply bland and boring. All the others are top quality, so if you like intelligent electronic music, do not hesitate to check it out.

A masterpiece from a very strange netlabel (10/10) Debiut Printempo można uznać za wyraz nostalgii za czasami, gdy muzyka instrumentalna była muzyką popularną. Pomimo dużego rozrzutu pod względem doboru utworów, płyta jako całość jest niezwykle spójna – elementem scalającym jest indywidualność muzyczna artysty, którego bez wątpienia uznać można za jednego z najbardziej obiecujących instrumentalistów i kompozytorów młodego pokolenia. [Read more --->] Estrada Nagrania, the netlabel that released this album is very mysterious, indeed. They do not have a regular website. They use a blog instead, where they publish not only their releases, but also Polish videoclips and articles on music from the 70-ties. The blog's design is stylized to resemble Polish record companies from that period. If only Internet existed in the 70-ties, one could think this is an archival website, not updated for the last 30 years. Very well done indeed - browsing their blog you feel almost like a time traveler. Previously Estrada Nagrania released only top quality compilation albums of Polish music from the 70-ties. So this album is not only Printempo's debut, but also the netlabel's first contemporary music release. Now to the point. This album contains instrumental downtempo / nu jazz. And the execution is just superb! If only you like the genre, this is simply a must-have. It sounds natural, with a classy lo-fi tint here and there. All instruments sound like... instruments, not cheap artificial samples. The melodies are interesting, there is a perfect chillout atmosphere. Someone in the other review compared it to Bonobo and this is a very accurate comparison. Not exactly because of Printempo's derivativeness, but because of top quality of this music. Get it ASAP! The album has been released by the Estrada Nagrania netlabel and you can download it from the netlabel's Bandcamp store for PLN 15 (~EUR 3) in a variety of formats, including a FLAC version. You can also listen to the full album before making a purchasing decision. Please note, however, that Bandcamp release has been probably made from mp3 files (at least according to AuCDtect). Because Bandcamp requires sending them lossless material, the result is that when downloading mp3 version you end up with files that have been recoded into mp3 twice! Do I have to say what influence should it have on the quality of the music? So if you are going to buy this release, I recommend downloading and keeping a FLAC version - bearing in mind, however, that this is not true lossless, because the files are made from the mp3 source.

Perfect (10/10) This 10 beat track is a result of collaboration between 3 Jamendo artists: Nikila, SaReGaMa and Hamelin Bérengnier. You can find its enhanced version in Triplexity's album Between Light and Shadow. The audio quality of music offered on Jamendo in best case reaches 190 kbps, which is quite reasonable for evaluational purposes but definitely not enough to experience the richness of original sound (1411 kbps). Hoffmann, Michael - "Ruff-Stuff Edition"

A massive dose of experimental ambient (9/10) RUFF-STUFF Edition is a documentation of live-sampling experiments, which I produced in 2009 on a period of 12 months. All tracks are pure improvisations by using live-sampling work and were occasionally grafted by carefully additions (add. Instuments, Efx, mixing). I pondered for a long time how to review and rate this album - over 5 hours (!) of experimental improvised ambient. It is hard to comprehend, it is hard to listen in one take. It requires a lot of attention to catch the subtleties of particular tracks, which all are slow-paced, quiet and drum-based. For people that don't have much experience with such music it would be probably a torture. Of course, its inaccessibility for general public should not influence an opinion on music as such. So what is my opinion? I'm still not sure. I guess you won't be very surprised if I write that it's too long and it'd profit from some selection of the recorded material. However, you'll probably be very surprised when you read that I'd delete only three tracks. In all the rest the artist somehow managed to include enough interesting ideas or to produce fine disturbing atmosphere to keep my attention focused. This fact only deserves the highest praise, because it requires a true genius to improvise such massive dose of ambient music without making it boring or too repetitive. One must also have a lot of courage to publish such unconventional work. On the other hand I won't give the highest rating just because of the qualities of the artist himself. This is a review of music, not of the artist's talent as such (which is - without any doubt - enormous). I also won't rate the originality by itself, just like I refused to lower the score because of inaccessibility. What truly matters is if it is good music, enjoyable (in a broad sense of the word) and worth of repeated listening. The answer is of course "yes", but at the same time it is not perfect recording for me. I truly appreciate the artist's mastery as well as novelty and originality of this work, but I cannot give full 10 points. Anyhow, this is an exceptional album and should be on a "must-listen" list of every true fan of ambient. Ethnic jazz masterpiece (10/10) Ethnic Jazz with percussions, jews harp, guitar, sax and clarinet. The track is in 7/8 beat, thus the name - Lucky Number 7. The saxophone, clarinet and guitar are played by Hamelin Bérengnier. This track is a part of Triplexity's album Between Light and Shadow. The theme is based on classical Arabic scales and inspired by Armenian folk and Balkan music. ٧ is arabic 7 The audio quality of music offered on Jamendo in best case reaches 190 kbps, which is quite reasonable for evaluational purposes but definitely not enough to experience the richness of original sound (1411 kbps). This time it's ethnic jazz and as always in case of a collaboration of these two individuals - it's perfect. Arabic and Balkan rhythms mixed with jazzy solos and a catchy leading melody. This is very sophisticated music, yet it's light as a breeze. It enters your head (or your soul, if you're into religion) and refuses to leave. It reminds me of great Polish jazz band Mazzoll & Arrhythmic Perfection. If you like Mazzoll, you'll love "Lucky Number 7". Thank you for this musical feast. This was the milestone of Triplexity. Love Supreme: Club version of John Coltrane's Love Supreme. Honky Fonky: Funky Jazzy Groove with some samples and scratching. Jazzpospolita - "Live Studio Recording"

Brilliant nu jazz (8/10) The band was formed by Wojtek (dr) and Stefan (b) in 2008. After a few rehearsals, concerts and contests Jazzpospolita was joined by Michal (k) and then the other Michal (g). With this line-up mostly composed of the musicians from the elite Jazz Department of Frederic Chopin Music School we recorded our second demo. The name of the band is a play on words “Jazz” and “Res Publica” (pl – Rzeczpospolita). We are also known as the eighty-eight fingered demon, Lord of the Strings, Pres of Jazzpospolita and Metaboss. We play music which is rather difficult to describe with Myspace categories. We suggest drum’n’jazz, dumbient and polished jazz but they don’t explain what it’s all about. Anyway, despite the name and its associations with mainstream jazz we are trying to stray from pure jazz. Still we are into jazz, go to jams and transcribe all the solos of Bird and Trane. O.K., just a joke! All in all we wanna be cool, famous and liked, of course! This is a brilliant nu jazz minialbum. If you're a fan of unorthodox modern jazz - download it now! You won't be disappointed - I guarantee. If you like this minialbum, you may be interested in their debut album "Almost Splendid". Check it out - it is equally brilliant. Nikila - "Short Tracks"

Another masterpiece from the Queen of Electronica (10/10) This album is a part of the project Vacui Spacii, launched by Martin Eschoyez. I used here material from tracks i already released, recycled material from tracks i didn't upload and new tracks i composed for this project. I also used samples from The Freesound Project Ulterius is a re-mix of a phon's track End [...] The idea is that the concepts attached to music inspire other artists to manipulate and reinterpret, recreate or destroy them to generate new audiovisual works. The idea is to release not only the concepts but the works, the materials they were made with, the typography, the music. The idea is to free them for exploring the potential of shared knowledge and inspiring others to wonder about this freedom. When all is said and done, everything comes from an empty space : the feelings, the sound waves, the pencil movement and its traces, the experimentation on a grid of voxels which, in the end, is just an empty space on a digital canvas. It's very diverse electronica of superb quality. Almost everything is perfect on this album - crystal sound, the quality of samples, mixing, the melodies. All sounds so fresh and natural, as if recorded by a real band. In fact some tracks could as well be placed under contemporary instrumental music, not simple electronica. I don't know how many real instruments Nikila used for this album (if any), but I doubt it could be so much as it seems. Some of these totally natural sounds simply have to be artificial. And it only confirms her true mastery.

But that's not all. The diversity of this recording is breathtaking. Each song is completely different, full of different ideas, played on different instruments, representing a different genre. Apart from the said contemporary instrumental, we have here nu jazz, downtempo, breakbeat, even industrial. If she let herself put so many ideas into short, under 30-minute album, how huge must be her creativity. It's scary. People shouldn't be so good. ;-) For some artists it would be enough for their whole career.

And that's still not all! One could think that so many different elements contained in such short tracks just have to generate total senseless chaos. And probably they would. With any regular artist, who is not a musical genius. But for Nikila it's a piece of cake. Everything fits perfectly, as if designed by evolution, by trial and error, over millions of years. There's no room for a coincidence. They just had to sound this way. It's so obvious once you already heard them.

I have only one complaint - they are too short. I read the description and I know it's a deliberate move. But these songs are so packed with highly condensed awesomeness, that one minute is really much too short to properly appreciate them. It's as if somebody forced you to admire talent of Hieronymus Bosch by showing his works for 5 seconds each. Wouldn't it be a torture?

For the time being, the only solution for listening to this album without risking a painful death from a musical hunger, is to play it on loop. But that's only a half measure, unfortunately. I WANT THEM LONGER! ;-) I was really tempted to lower my rating because of that, but I came to a conclusion that it would be very unfair to punish these compositions just because they are short.

By the way, what a pity Phon left Jamendo. He would go mad from happiness seeing Nikila used one of his songs. On second thought, he could fall into catatonia, so maybe it's better he can't see it.

By the way (II), I was so lucky as to hear this album in a lossless format, because Nikila was so generous to share the original WAV files with me. I don't know if she would be willing to share them with others, but I would try to ask her if I were you - the listening pleasure will be doubled, that's for sure. This is the work that should be heard in the best format possible.

By the way (III), I know it's April Fools' Day today, but I'm gravely serious here, people.

Triplexity - "Afro Blue" [SP]

Very good (8/10) NuJazz Ambient World Fusion composition based on Afro Blue theme by Mongo Santamaria. To purchase a commercial license for this track contact us here. Lossless FLAC version of our music can be obtained on triplexity.blogspot.com. That's only very good. Excuse me for this harsh ;-) review, but after the first album I hoped for a masterpiece. And this track is... nice... professional... well arranged... but it does not have a power of a ten-ton hammer like its predecessors. It's too easy and smooth. I hope it will be the worst on the next album.

Hoffmann, Michael - "Frost"

Nu jazz masterpiece (10/10) In 2002 I produced some Loops & Tracks for my band COMFORT ZONE (NuJazz, Electronica). Producing electronic music was a totally new experience for me. I had to get confidend with the different styles of this kind of music. At this time I learned a lot about modern electronic music and its production process. As a drummer I played already a quantity of different styles over the years, but this was really new... a great challenge! Later this knowledge flew into the production of my first own album "FROST". This album should not represent a special kind of electronica, but rather only reflects my own visibility manner on Musica Electronica. Nu jazz masterpiece, including elements of ambient, experimental electronica, space music. Great sound, real instruments, dark atmosphere. Hoffmann, Michael - "Luminous" [EP]

First class ambient (8/10)

If you can trust Brian Eno, then ambient has the capacity to put the listener into a different, not necessarily existent environment just by the use of sound, and to acoustically confront him with new sensations of space. Even though carrying on with this tradition, Michael Hoffmann breaks some more modern ground soundwise on his first solo-ep on iD.EOLOGY. Minimalist is how he goes about when bit by bit, the penumbral monstrous steel-construction of an abandoned industrial ruin appears in the mechanical monotony of resonating feedback-loops and stolid muffled beats. Debris of clanging metal and crumbly noise cover the ground, the walls of the corroded workshop answer each step with a multiple echo. Very slowly a harmonic crescendo illuminates the room, bathing it in the sunny glow of warm, comforting pads and touching it with the soft summer breeze of glittering arpeggios. What you are normally likely to encounter during an arts-performance, is what this ep achieves solely by means of sound. So creating and changing environments, generating and conveying new sensations of space is possible in a different way. But who would ever have doubted that you can trust Brian Eno.

First class ambient. The artist is very accomplished, so this EP is flawless from the technical and production side. Each piece is very creative, full of different ideas, so it never gets boring, like so many bad ambient works. I gave it "only" 8/10, because it doesn't fit my taste perfectly, as it is slightly too calm and smooth for my liking. But it shouldn't discourage you in any way from checking this overall great recording.
