OK, so the time has come. Nobody follows my blog, so I have to fire the big guns (or rather big boobs) in a last-ditch resort for saving my blogger career. So here we go. Let me present you a video with naked chicks. And seriously... This is a brilliant song by Fatboy Slim's The Brighton Port Authority, featuring the one and only David Byrne, whose distinct vocals and nonchalant delivery fit perfectly with the lighthearted melody and the funny video. And speaking of the video - yes, there are naked chicks in it. But all the fun parts are covered with censor boxes. I am sure it required a huge amount of editing, as it has been done in a very funny and creative way. It is not very often, when you can see censorship actually adding some value to the censored material. Absolutely brilliant. Just watch it for yourself. Oh, and the guy behind the video is the acclaimed music video director Keith Schofield.

Peszek, Maria - "Maria Awaria" (2008)

Maria Peszek is a highly acclaimed Polish singer/songwriter. She is considered to be controversial, especially by right-wing retards and tabloids, because she is not afraid to openly discuss - both in lyrics to her songs and in interviews - themes such as sex, faith, patriotism and mental diseases. Each of her three albums was a commercial success, at the same time being praised by the critics and receiving many awards in her native Poland. She sings exclusively in Polish. Maria Awaria (Maria the Failure) is a loose concept album about sex, love and femininity. All lyrics are in Polish and they are really good, witty and powerful, being an important factor in making these songs as awesome as they are. Therefore, this album may not appeal to non-Polish speaking public, as some tracks are built around lyrics with musical background playing only a small part ("Milosc w systemie Dolby Surround", "Reks", "Ladne slowa to"). Nevertheless, I still encourage you to check this album out, because many other tracks are brilliant from the musical side too (e.g. "Rosol", "Hujawiak", "Maria Awaria", "Muchomory"). From the musical perspective this is a pop (or pop rock) record, with some jazz and modern electronica influences. The album is masterfully produced by one of the best Polish producers and electronica composers, Andrzej Smolik, so the said musical background is full of pleasant surprises on many occasions. Many of Peszek's vocal lines are catchy as hell too and should be enjoyable even without understanding of her lyrics. Maria Awaria To zdecydowanie najbardziej kobieca i erotyczna płyta na polskim rynku od czasów... Hmmm... No właśnie, takiego albumu jeszcze w kraju nad Wisłą nie było. Maria Peszek na swoim drugim krążku odkrywa przed słuchaczami swoją kobiecą naturę. Bez zażenowania śpiewa o tym, że "dla własnej wygody zapuszcza swe ogrody i kolekcjonuje wzwody". Zdradza też swoje swoje erotyczne fantazje. Zachęca kochanka do lizania, solenia i miętolenia swego drobnego ciała. Z niemal fotograficzną dokładnością opisuje również style współczesnych kobiet, które z jednej strony "chude, wysokie z wydepilowanym krokiem", a z drugiej mogą być kurami domowymi. Odkrywa też swoją romantyczną duszę i w piękny, metaforyczny sposób (swoim delikatnym aksamitnym głosem) śpiewa o tęsknocie. I od razu zapewniam: mimo różnych – może kontrowersyjnych – stwierdzeń teksty nie są wulgarne, nie przekraczają cienkiej granicy dobrego smaku (choć się do niej niebezpiecznie zbliżają). Jeszcze słowo o samej muzyce, za którą odpowiedzialny był Andrzej Smolik. To miks przeróżnych styli muzycznych: od delikatnego, transowego, nastrojowego trip-hopu i chilloutu pełnego "powietrza" i ciepłych muzycznych plam, przez nieco jazzujące swingi, altarnatywnego retropopu, po elementy starego rocka z lat 60-tych. Lobotomia - "Kazik to ..."

Maybe next time (5/10)

Very short two-track minialbum from the Polish rock band Lobotomia. The first song is a pitiful attack on one of the greatest Polish rock singer-songwriters, Kazik Staszewski. Some of Kazik's recent actions are truly controversial, but this song is clearly reckoned on causing a scandal and gaining notoriety this way. Their whole idea of making fun of Kazik is based on calling him a prick. Wow... how creative. Bad production completes the picture. The second track is far more interesting. Forgettable lyrics do not get in the way this time and the music is quite catchy and better produced. But the funny thing is that so hated Kazik is their direct influence to the point of slavish copying of the style of his band Kult. They should really rethink their promotion strategy, because they obviously can do better than that. The album has been self-released by the band and is available for downloading at mediafire.com file-sharing website in mp3 format.

8-bit - only partially successful (6/10) Crazy and mad music which will make you feel giddy and totally wired. Sounds emanating from everywhere take you unawares and stick you a new dose of absolutely positive energy. Raül Peix (Ralp). Multifaceted artist member of Device, Lowtoy, Distortled Box, Tricoma, NFFCTS, MicroBCN and NGFX, independent collectives dedicated to audiovisual creations. Under the same name, Ralp takes different paths in music, 3D, motion, graphic and installation. He creates 100% electronic music with an IDMcore aesthetic made with computer, some hardware, circuit bending toys, machines built from zero and 8 Bit productions with Nintendo Game Boy and Commodore 64. During his trajectory he has played in some events and festivals around Europe and in a lots of improvised "mini raves" in the streets. So far he has published sonorous material in some netlabels like Brainstormlab (London), Crazy-Language (Berlin), DexandtheCity (Letonia), 49 Manekinow (Polonia), Noise-Joy (USA), Spoomusic (USA) and Chippanze (Brasil). This is typical 8-bit techno. Unfortunately only partially successful. Some tracks are interesting, well crafted, but others are dull and chaotic, sounding like if samples were placed in purely accidental order. Good ones: 01, 03, 04, 06, 09. Funny comment on copyright war (7/10) This is a copyfight themed electro-pop track building on Swedish Pirate Party leader Rick Falkvinge's speech on copyrights vs. civil rights with additional samples from "Steal This Film 2" movie, including Pirate Bay's Brokep's classic line "Intellectual property is - what the fuck is that?". Funny musical comment on ongoing copyright war. Not a track for repeated listening, though. Unless your neighbour is the president of RIAA. In such case put your speakers to the wall, turn the volume up and go walking the dog... ;-> I guess it's a good moment to remind you that everybody who loves music should boycott RIAA. Good and bad - where's the ugly? (6/10)

The aim of this EP is to prepare you for my new album Hard Beat Dilla. It consists of 2 tracks. The first was composed with my mate mr.H (a representant of the same streets as me)and the second one- with my old friend (not only mine) to listen is enough. The title track is terrible. Simple monotonous beat broken from time to time by ugly disco vocals repeating one phrase over and over again. It just drives you mad. However, no. 2 "No one knows" is great. It is powerful techno track with funny samples from the Polish children cartoon "Reksio". It is energetic, cleverly mixed, catchy, with crazy feeling. Download it ASAP. paniq - "Neurons: Fire At Will"

Well crafted techno... but someone should ban vocoder (8/10) "Neurons: Fire At Will" is an instrumental electronica album, containing songs written between 2004-2005. It consists of four sections, separated by style: a.) uplifting/quirky, b.) straight four to the floor, c.) funny tracks, d.) ambient and downtempo. Enjoy. It's a very good techno album. As the artist says in the description, this recording contains a mix of tunes in different styles. But that's not a problem. All tracks are creative, production is flawless - just read the other reviews. So why such a low rating? The answer is: a vocoder. Someone should ban this. I really hoped that the most pitiful invention in the history of music, which is able to kill even the most interesting tune, passed away in disgrace along with the 80s. I was wrong. Lately it crawled out of its grave and started to haunt different musical genres, scaring people with its decaying flesh and rotting bowels. I know some people like it, but for me it is pitiful. It has its place in Kraftwerk's tunes, but that's it. Really. We have 21st century, for Zeus' sake. Your song won't turn into another "Das Model" just because you use a vocoder. So don't. Save the mankind. Fortunately, only a few tracks on this album are vocoder-"enhanced", so I encourage you to check it out, cause except from this issue it is really good. Update: After re-listening to this album I came to the conclusion that the above review is too harsh. I still hate vocoder, but firstly - it is used only in two tracks and secondly - its use on these tracks is justified, because the artist tries to imitate the sound of 80s. Therefore, I raised my rating from 6 to 8. And once again I highly recommend this album - mixing so many genres shows how talented paniq is. From breakbeat, through 8-bit, plain techno, crazy and funny experiments in the middle up to the ending downtempo tunes - all is great. Every genre that he touches turns into gold. I dare him to try some Village People kitsch.
