Peszek, Maria - "Maria Awaria" (2008)

Maria Peszek is a highly acclaimed Polish singer/songwriter. She is considered to be controversial, especially by right-wing retards and tabloids, because she is not afraid to openly discuss - both in lyrics to her songs and in interviews - themes such as sex, faith, patriotism and mental diseases. Each of her three albums was a commercial success, at the same time being praised by the critics and receiving many awards in her native Poland. She sings exclusively in Polish. Maria Awaria (Maria the Failure) is a loose concept album about sex, love and femininity. All lyrics are in Polish and they are really good, witty and powerful, being an important factor in making these songs as awesome as they are. Therefore, this album may not appeal to non-Polish speaking public, as some tracks are built around lyrics with musical background playing only a small part ("Milosc w systemie Dolby Surround", "Reks", "Ladne slowa to"). Nevertheless, I still encourage you to check this album out, because many other tracks are brilliant from the musical side too (e.g. "Rosol", "Hujawiak", "Maria Awaria", "Muchomory"). From the musical perspective this is a pop (or pop rock) record, with some jazz and modern electronica influences. The album is masterfully produced by one of the best Polish producers and electronica composers, Andrzej Smolik, so the said musical background is full of pleasant surprises on many occasions. Many of Peszek's vocal lines are catchy as hell too and should be enjoyable even without understanding of her lyrics. Maria Peszek na swoim drugim krążku odkrywa przed słuchaczami swoją kobiecą naturę. Bez zażenowania śpiewa o tym, że "dla własnej wygody zapuszcza swe ogrody i kolekcjonuje wzwody". Zdradza też swoje swoje erotyczne fantazje. Zachęca kochanka do lizania, solenia i miętolenia swego drobnego ciała. Z niemal fotograficzną dokładnością opisuje również style współczesnych kobiet, które z jednej strony "chude, wysokie z wydepilowanym krokiem", a z drugiej mogą być kurami domowymi. Odkrywa też swoją romantyczną duszę i w piękny, metaforyczny sposób (swoim delikatnym aksamitnym głosem) śpiewa o tęsknocie. I od razu zapewniam: mimo różnych – może kontrowersyjnych – stwierdzeń teksty nie są wulgarne, nie przekraczają cienkiej granicy dobrego smaku (choć się do niej niebezpiecznie zbliżają). Jeszcze słowo o samej muzyce, za którą odpowiedzialny był Andrzej Smolik. To miks przeróżnych styli muzycznych: od delikatnego, transowego, nastrojowego trip-hopu i chilloutu pełnego "powietrza" i ciepłych muzycznych plam, przez nieco jazzujące swingi, altarnatywnego retropopu, po elementy starego rocka z lat 60-tych. Various Artists - "Fonoteka 7 (Remixed)"

A quality compilation from a Polish retro netlabel (7/10) Związek Kompozytorów Polskich i Zakład Nagrań Dźwiękowych Estrady informuje: koniec z szeroko propagowaną akcją popularyzowania ckliwych serenadek czy wesołych uwerturek w rytmie polskich tańców ludowych. Istniejące i powstające nadal kompozycje rażą szablonem, banałem oraz żenującym poziomem artystycznym. Nie chodzi tu wcale o tytuły granych pozycji – bądź ich brak – ale o styl interpretacyjny, który nawiązuje najczęściej do najgorszych tradycji muzyków estradowych. Wśród nadesłanych do nas materiałów niewielu kompozytorów pokusiło się o wykroczenie poza zwykłą przeciętność, co najwyżej poprawność, graniczącą jednak z monotonią, szablonem i sztampą. Postawa wielu wykonawców trąci abnegacją i rutyniarstwem. Wieje nudą i szarzyzną. [...] Przed państwem ci, których wszystko co napisaliśmy nie dotyczy. [Read more --->] This is a quality compilation of contemporary club music: from electronica and nu jazz through hip hop to disco, all with a nice retro feeling, typical for productions coming from Estrada Nagrania netlabel. The retro feeling is strengthened through masterful mixing, blending modern tunes with sampled fragments of Polish radio programmes from the 1970s - often to very funny and surreal effects. Only several of these tracks suit my personal taste, hence the rating of "7". However, trying to adopt a more objective view, I have to admit all of this material is top class and should satisfy a more club-music-oriented listener. And for people longing for "good old times", ready for a nostalgic time travel back to '70s - this should be a masterpiece. The lossless version is available in the netlabel's Bandcamp store under the "name your price" scheme. You can also listen to the full album online on Bandcamp. Of course, if you like this album and you intend to keep it, I encourage you to make a donation (purchase) through Bandcamp, even if you need only a free mp3 version. Lobotomia - "Kazik to ..."

Maybe next time (5/10)

Very short two-track minialbum from the Polish rock band Lobotomia. The first song is a pitiful attack on one of the greatest Polish rock singer-songwriters, Kazik Staszewski. Some of Kazik's recent actions are truly controversial, but this song is clearly reckoned on causing a scandal and gaining notoriety this way. Their whole idea of making fun of Kazik is based on calling him a prick. Wow... how creative. Bad production completes the picture. The second track is far more interesting. Forgettable lyrics do not get in the way this time and the music is quite catchy and better produced. But the funny thing is that so hated Kazik is their direct influence to the point of slavish copying of the style of his band Kult. They should really rethink their promotion strategy, because they obviously can do better than that. Baiki - "Do It Yourself"

A promising act - check it out if you like folk rock (6/10) The title of the album soon imposed itself : We had no label, so we threw ourselves in self-production We had no distributor, so we went into self-distribution We had no promoter, so we self-promoted We had no website, so self-webmastered Knowing we could only rely on ourselves, we named the album after this self-attitude. And to push the concept further, we declined the imagery of a multinational DIY furniture store to create the cover of our album. It was nothing more than a gimmick, no bad intentions… We must confess that the end result was remarkable thanks to the combined talents of 2 friends : Michel and Chan. So we had a good laugh though that didn’t last long. This multinational got really upset. The end result was that we had to bring their minds at peace and promise to put an end to our misdemeanour and commit to stop annoying them again in the future. This CD was therefore “released” in a fairly confidential way in Belgium at the end of 2003. Nevertheless, there only remains a handful of this “outlaw collector”. And then hope came from the South, from Montpellier to be precise. A modest label, Musiquémo took “Do It Yourself” under their wings and signed a licensing agreement. A new cover was created, the CD repressed and bang “Do It Yourself” now proudly sits in the music shop racks in France since mid-February 2005. This is quite an interesting work, blending rock, pop rock and folk rock, based on heavy use of acoustic instruments, with the singer trying to sing in four different languages. I do not know if it was such a good idea, because I have the impression that because of lack of language skills his performance is much weaker than it could be. This is definitely true with my native Polish, but Spanish also sounds very unconvincing, as if he had much trouble with proper pronunciation. Nevertheless, it is a promising act, with a potential to grow. For the time being some tracks lack good melodies, the others have them too obvious and simple. The ugly cover of the Polish folk standard "Sokoly" shows clearly that they should work much much harder on their arrangements and ability to transmit musical energy through their recordings. Still, I listened to this album with interest and I put them on my watchlist, hoping they will improve. Check them out if you like folk rock.

Kaczmarski, Gintrowski, Lapinski - "Mury" (1981)

Jacek Kaczmarski (March 22, 1957, Warsaw - April 10, 2004, Gdańsk) was a Polish singer, songwriter, poet and author. Kaczmarski was a voice of the Solidarity trade union movement in 1980s Poland, for his commitment to a free Poland, independent of Soviet rule. His songs criticized the ruling communist regime and appealed to the tradition of patriotic resistance within Poles. He remains best known for his protest songs on social and political subjects ("Mury" (Walls) based on "L'estaca" by Lluís Llach, "Obława" (Wolf hunt (lit. Raid))). However, he was more a poet than a political singer, and his texts have not lost their relevance with the demise of the Soviet union and its communist bloc. Kaczmarski was known not only for his politically motivated lyrics but also for his characteristically dynamic — even aggressive — classical guitar playing, and expressive performance style. His deep knowledge of not only his nation's history but also of classical literature gave his songs a particularly deep and multi-layered resonance (e.g. "Powtórka z Odysei," recalled Homer's Odyssey, and "Lalka," was a masterful strike at the heart of a riveting Polish novel). He often performed before contrastingly different audiences: groups of friends in their homes, campus venues, and large concert halls in Poland, the rest of Europe and America.

MURY to płyta, od której wszystko się zaczęło, pierwszy program artystyczny tria Przemysław Gintrowski/ Jacek Kaczmarski/ Zbigniew Łapiński. Mury to także tytuł pieśni dzisiaj jeszcze, ponad 20 lat później, utożsamianej z narodzinami fenomenu, jakim była w Polsce lat „Solidarności" (1980–1981) autorska piosenka literacka o kontekście historycznym i politycznym. Nikt wcześniej, ale też i nikt później, nie wykonywał tekstów tak głęboko osadzonych w tradycji kulturowej. Co więcej – absolutnie nikt nie czynił tego z taką pasją, jak Gintrowski i Kaczmarski. To czysty przypadek, że znalazła się na tej płycie – jakże ważna dla twórczości Jacka Kaczmarskiego – pieśń Źródło, ale MURY są źródłem właśnie: zjawiska jakim miała się okazać działalność artystyczna tria Gintrowski/Kaczmarski/Łapiński oraz źródłem indywidualnej drogi obu bardów, Gintrowskiego i Kaczmarskiego. Oczywiście wkład twórczy tego ostatniego jest dominujący – Kaczmarski pisze i komponuje muzykę do swoich tekstów. Gintrowski komponuje do wierszy poetów, w tym – a w przyszłości coraz więcej – do wierszy Kaczmarskiego. Zbigniew Łapiński w niezwykle świeży i nieustannie twórczy sposób wzbogaca dość monotonną i jednolitą muzykę kolegów. Jego muzyka do wierszy Kaczmarskiego zacznie z czasem odgrywać istotną rolę. Kilka zaprezentowanych tu piosenek Jacka Kaczmarskiego sygnalizuje podstawowe wątki kontynuowane następnie w całej jego dalszej i dojrzalszej twórczości. Młodość jest w nich niepodważalnym atutem, to z niej płynie gniew poety i pasja wykonawcy. Ale wiersze Kaczmarskiego zaskakują powagą oraz głębią przemyśleń, zapowiadają długą drogę artystyczną, a jak konsekwentna miała się okazać, zademonstrował czas. Wizytówką Kaczmarskiego-poety jest piękny wiersz, Źródło, jedna z ulubionych pieśni barda i metafora, do której będzie wracał w dalszej twórczości: „I niech łączą się zbocza bezlitosnych wąwozów, bo cóż drąży kształt przyszłych przestrzeni, jak nie rzeka podziemna?" Młodego poetę porwie już wkrótce owa „podziemna rzeka", ale nadzieja – wbrew logice – pozostanie, dopóki źródło... „źródło wciąż bije". Zaskakuje dojrzałością obserwacji życia wkoło piosenka Starzy ludzie w autobusie. Przy swoich szerokich zainteresowaniach historią, literaturą czy sztuką, Kaczmarski pozostał wiernym świadkiem codzienności i jej bacznym, uważnym obserwatorem: „[...] pasażerów chór nas zdławi i dobrotliwie skarci nas, dwie możliwości nam zostawi – pętlę lub do zajezdni zjazd". A rozmowa z kierowcą zabroniona... Każda z kolejnych pieśni to początek cyklu, linii tematycznej, obecnej w twórczości Kaczmarskiego już zawsze. Pompeja to wycieczka w antyk: „Odkopywaliśmy miasto Pompeję, jak się odkrywa spodziewane lądy". Jedna z najbardziej znanych wczesnych pieśni tria, Krajobraz po uczcie, jest utworem historycznym z czasów bliskiej sercu Kaczmarskiego-historyka Polski rozbiorowej: „A w stolicy koronacja się zaczyna i król światowy pokazuje szyk, ale z obecnych jeszcze nie wie nikt, że na tortach dał napis: Wiwat Katarzyna!" Imponujący rozmachem utwór Casanova-Fellini (Scena niemiecka) – nieistotne, że inspirowana pośrednio dziełem filmowym – to przykład Kaczmarskiego epickiego. Jego poetycki rozmach zaowocuje z czasem poematami, które przerosną ramy utworu muzycznego (jak chociażby Widzenia na temat końca świata, napisane w Berkeley w 1984 roku). I dalej. Już od pierwszej, debiutanckiej płyty, Kaczmarski realizuje swój niezwykle oryginalny pomysł na pisanie utworów inspirowanych dziełami malarskimi. Pierwszym przykładem owego interesującego, konsekwentnie realizowanego wątku jego twórczości jest pieśń Encore, jeszcze raz według obrazu Fiedotowa („Mam wszystko, czego może chcieć uczciwy człowiek – światopogląd, wykształcenie, młodość, zdrowie, rodzinę, która kocha mnie, dwie, trzy kobiety, gitarę, psa i oficerskie epolety"). Ale owa obrazowość, plastyczność opisu zawsze służy metaforze. Słyszymy to wyraźnie w pieśni Pejzaż z szubienicą według Bruegela (tym razem do muzyki Gintrowskiego), kiedy z ust powieszonego padają zdumiewające słowa: „Tu jasne są przestrzenie i widzę krągłość Ziemi, gdy czasem wiatr podrzuci mnie ponad czarny las..." Na koniec wreszcie została otwierająca album pieśń Ze sceny, według Wysockiego. Jacek Kaczmarski nie ukrywał swojej fascynacji twórczością rosyjskiego barda. Zaadaptował z czasem kilkanaście jego utworów – z legendarną Obławą na czele – zawsze jednak były to przemyślane wybory i twórcze, poetyckie adaptacje tekstów. Oto więc Kaczmarski-tłumacz. Mury to obrazowy przykład sztuki translatorskiej Jacka Kaczmarskiego. Adaptacje barda zawsze wychodzą poza zwykły przekład i to wychodzą daleko. Tłumaczenie pieśni nie ogranicza się do przekładu języka, bywa często – jak w tym przypadku – szukaniem odpowiednika dla jednej kultury w kulturze drugiej. Dla katalońskiego barda, Louisa Llacha Grande, którego pieśń posłużyła za kanwę Murów, metaforą zniewolenia jest pal, do którego przywiązuje się na pastwiskach owce i oryginalny utwór taki ma właśnie tytuł: L’Estaca („Pal"). Gdyby wszystkie owce pociągnęły postronki w jedną stronę, wyrwałyby pal – stąd metafora, ale zupełnie nieczytelna poza Półwyspem Iberyjskim. Jacek Kaczmarski zamienił pal na mur i powstała najważniejsza pieśń w całym dorobku tria Gintrowski/Kaczmarski/Łapiński, pokoleniowy manifest o przesłaniu tak samo aktualnym wtedy, co i dzisiaj. Aż zobaczyli ilu ich, poczuli siłę i czas I z pieśnią, że już blisko świt szli ulicami miast Zwalali pomniki i rwali bruk – Ten z nami! Ten przeciw nam! Kto sam – ten nasz najgorszy wróg! A śpiewak także był sam... Review by Daniel Wyszogrodzki I usually discourage people from buying records issued by the majors, as almost all the money goes to the recording industry mafia anyhow and will be used later for committing crimes such as unlawful harassment of fans and bribing authorities to implement changes in law, which would infringe basic human rights. However, in this case, the said "mafia" did a really good job at remastering all the works of Jacek Kaczmarski and helped reviving his popularity in the 90-ties, supporting him until his premature death in 2004. His works are published with all due respect and esteem that this greatest Polish singer/songwriter deserves. Therefore - you won't hear it from me often - if you like this album, I encourage you to buy it. In this case the record label (Pomaton EMI) really earned its pay and deserves to be rewarded.

Chlopomania - "Lodowisko Remixes"

Be eco-friendly - remix your garbage (0/10) Florian filsinger, Television Tom, Hydrator, Aqpa, Puzia remixes well known chlopomania track called Lodowisko. It's a bland electroclash tune with extremely stupid lyrics that were meant to be funny, but failed miserably. The original mix is accompanied by several remixes of varying, but not so high, quality. It doesn't matter anyhow, because remixing such an atrocious piece of garbage like this one is pointless anyhow and does not qualify for listening. Even one star is too much for this - it deserves 0/5 rating. The album has been released by the 49manekinow.net netlabel and is available for downloading at archive.org in mp3 format.

Z.o.Z. - "Morfina"

Not bad, but not very interesting either (5/10) Mix of rock, trip hop and post rock with Polish lyrics. It's not bad, but at the same time not attractive enough to keep my attention focused. They claim they like to experiment, but I didn't hear many experiments on this album. I didn't find catchy melodies either. Lyrics? Correct, but forgettable. Vocals? Your ears won't hurt but nothing more. Gloomy atmosphere? Present, but I wasn't carried away. To sum up: if you like the genre, you can check it out, but don't expect a masterpiece. Chujawiacy - "Demo EP"

Nice hard rock tunes with bad lyrics (5/10) This could be a good hard rock EP with industrial feel to it. The melodies are quite catchy, with disturbing depressive atmosphere; production is decent. The main downside of this record are lyrics. They are very strange and surreal, which is not bad by itself. However, associations used in these lyrics just don't work - at least for me. They are very original though. This is still an interesting effort and you can check this out if you like strange "alternative" music. The best track is no. 05 "Garnizon". [Artist's Myspace]

Simple synthpop (5/10) Two tracks from that album, the compositions that will be on my new album, which will publish soon! The album will be titled "Music for the people." Just music for the people - listen, evaluate, Collect! Yours - the motyw Simple synthpop tunes. Professionally crafted and with nice melodies, vocals are in tune. Just too plain and easy for my liking. Simply too synthetic, I guess. But it's just me, check it out if you're a fan of the genre, it may be a 10-point album for you. [Artist's website]

Axis Mundi - "demo(n)SEX"

Not bad but requires more work (and re-recording) (3/10) This is a regular rock album. The band knows what their instruments are for. The melodies could be more interesting, but this is a personal thing. The best track is no. 5, "Psyhe", an instrumental tune with great twisted bass-driven rhythms. All the lyrics are in Polish, and they are not bad, at least these fragments that I managed to hear and understand. And this is the main problem with this album - it sounds like it was recorded on a cassette recorder from the 80s and then ripped and encoded to 32 kbit mp3 files. The quality of the sound is far below the border of listenability (as long as we are talking about listening for fun). If it was decently recorded, I'd probably give it 5 or 6, but in it's current state it's not worth a (repeated) listen. ajk - "Uratowac resztke mnie cz. 2 (akt 2: Czlowiek w swej wielkosci, Dezintegracja)"

Decent lyrics wrapped in bad music and delivered with weak voice (4/10) ajk is a singer from Poland. Wszystkie utwory i teksty: ajk Projekt okładki i produkcja: tasaLin Like I already wrote in the other review, this artist is not a bad lyricist. So it's a pity his lyrics are illustrated with such uninteresting or even ugly (a terrible track no. 1) music. He is also a rather lousy vocalist, singing - or in fact reciting - without passion and sometimes almost out-of-tune. To sum it up: waste of time. Maybe he should think about publishing poems instead? The album has been released on Jamendo and is available for downloading in mp3 or ogg format.

ajk - "Uratowac resztke mnie cz. 2 (akt 3: Bog, ...)"

Decent lyrics + primitive music (4/10) ajk is a singer from Poland. Wszystkie utwory i teksty: ajk Projekt okładki i produkcja: tasaLin The artist is quite a talented lyricist. So it's a pity he wraps his poetry in such ugly music. Maybe some musical ideas are interesting, but execution is very weak. The tracks nos. 2 & 3 are listenable electropop tunes, but no. 1 is just a terrible production failure, to the point of the singer being out-of-tune at places. On the track no. 4 the "happy" arrangement is equally clumsy. The album has been released on Jamendo and is available for downloading in mp3 or ogg format.

Not catchy enough (5/10) Pop should be catchy. Period. It is of course highly individual matter and for some people this piece could be great, but for me the melody is not catchy. It's not my favourite genre, but I guess it could be a hit for fans of simple electronic pop with heavy disco influences. The least successful element of this song is singing. Try harder, guys (4/10) Well... Much work lies ahead for the vocalist if they want to make their music enjoyable. The lyrics are silly, his interpretation is sloppy; on "Garby" on the verge of self-parody. "Pykam fajke" is slightly better. The rest of the band is also better, although tunes are repetitive and boring. It's not a total disaster, but they have still much to learn. Decent acoustic rock (6/10) ajk is a singer from Poland. Album został nagrany 02 czerwca 2009 roku, w Studiu KWART w Bochni. Projekt okładki: Adam Pyrz Trzeci It is quite decent acoustic rock. First of all, we have here good lyrics sang in tune and with confidence. Maybe the voice of the artist could be stronger, maybe the melodies could be catchier, but it is not a bad recording. Check it out if you are a fan of the genre. All the songs are in Polish, and since lyrics are quite important in such kind of music, this work probably will not be interesting for people not speaking po polsku. ;-)

Samplastik - "Duchowe karate"

Hip hop masterpiece (10/10) Samplastik jest sztuką walki stworzoną przez Mistrza Z. jako metoda obrony przed słabą muzyką bez użycia broni. Dawniej dla tej sztuki używano różnych nazw : rybne ciosy, bitne cymbały lub Okinawa-te. Co ważne jednak - nazwa Samplastik została zatwierdzona dopiero w 2006 roku - roku psa dodajmy. Tym razem wprost na wasze klaty leci 17 zabójczych ciosów, przygotowanych co prawda zdecydowanie wcześniej, jednak jak zwykle medytacje i poszukiwania wewnętrznej równowagi sprawiły, że publikacja tego audio-papirusa się opóźniła. Nadchodzący turniej na śmierć i życie pokaże czy droga wojownika, którą obrał Zdrawko_k, jest drogą zwycięstwa. I don't like hip hop. It doesn't mean I am unable to appreciate and enjoy good hip hop works. What I mean is that this genre is generally so devoid of creativeness and populated by morons without even a trace of talent that good hip hop works are almost as hard to find as the brain of G.W. Bush. I hate boring R&B beats repeated in the majority of hip hop songs like they were produced on the same assembly line in a Chinese rap factory of Crappy Music, Inc. I hate stupid self focused lyrics ("Yo niggas! This is MC Moron rapping to all my hommies. Let me tell ya all them bitches are mine."). I hate uncreative ripping off the music of others only to drown it in a meaningless mumbling of some retard. That is why I usually avoid hip hop, because the probability it will be listenable is extremely low. That's why it's almost a miracle I didn't just move along seeing this is a hip hop album. It must have been the sixth sense or something that stopped me and forced me to try it out. Because this is the rare hip hop gem. With great intelligent meaningful lyrics. With great flow. With powerful rhyming skills: "Niósł czerwony grzebień w tylnej kieszeni I lekko się uśmiechał wychodząc z sutereny Potem przeczesał włosy chyba setny raz z kolei Wyjął Carmeny, miał plamę na flaneli." This is an excerpt from "Czerwony grzebień", a really atmospheric song about a serial killer - one of the best on this album. But that's still not all. What else? Original beats - no repetitive R&B shit here. The record is full of catchy creative tunes, utilizing a variety of real instruments (or really convincing samples) and clever electronic sounds. So... Yo niggas! Listen to me! Let me tell ya this. Samplastik is the mastah of a hip hop bliss. No, no, take it easy - that's not Samplastik. That's just my take on a shitty hip hop. Quite successful I think. ;-> Back to the subject. Despite the above rave and the highest possible rating, you shouldn't get the impression that I think this is a perfect work. It could be better. Not every song is equally good (the worst being no. 15 "Niczego więcej", another take on a similar theme to that of "Czerwony grzebień", but much less successful), but still, you have 17 tracks here, and the average quality is definitely sky-high for the regular hip hop. Not every track is also original (for example no. 07 "Więcej nie chcę" strongly resembles Eminem's work - too strongly in my opinion). So why five stars? Because it rises so high from the pool of usual hip hop shit, that it deserves to be acclaimed. Like Samplastik well put it himself: Widziałem was na spotkaniu w Empiku / I saw you waiting for fans in the record store Jak siedzieliście sami przy stoliku / You sat alone by the table I tylko jeden dziennikarz się spytał / And only one journalist asked you Jak można gówno tłoczyć na płytach. / How come they publish shit on CDs So it's not 10/10 on my scale, but rather 10/10 on a hip hop scale. This record is definitely 100% shit-free. The final disclaimer: all the lyrics on this album are in Polish, so this work may not be interesting for people that can't speak our strange language.

The Motyw (Wojciech Wszelaki) - "Analog Live"

Simple, disco-based synthpop - not my cup of tea (4/10) Primitive synthpop or - more precisely, electropop, as synthpop is usually based on rock music, use some guitars and rock expression, even if it is executed with electronic means. This album is definitely based on disco, dance, pop - the artist is very far from rock stylistics. And that's what I mean by "primitive": using the most simple, obvious and commercial-driven forms of artistic expression. Even in synthpop music there are works, which are highly original and thought provoking (Depeche Mode, for example). But not this time, ladies and gentlemen. Compared with this album, even Erasure or Pet Shop Boys write experimental music. Still, this is not a total flop. Many people love such "easy" music. That's why I described above what I mean by primitive - this isn't in any way primitive when it comes to production or performance. The artist knows how to write pop melodies, he has an acceptable voice with a nice timbre. And the issue of a chosen stylistics is just a matter of taste. If only such recordings populated charts in Poland, I'd be a happy man. Unfortunately, much worse acts gain a huge popularity. I would definitely prefer to hear this guy on radio instead of the highly successful Polish crap-pop band Feel. So, if you like such simple, "easy-listening" disco-based pop, check it out. By the way, here is a remastered and extended version of this album and some of the added tracks are much better.
